About LaBovick Law Group

LaBovick Law Group, a commercial law firm based in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, experienced a significant data breach affecting 2,825 individuals, including 3 residents of Maine. What Happened

On October 23, 2024, LaBovick discovered that a cybercriminal had launched an attack on one of many LaBovick computer servers. Upon discovery of the attack, LaBovick’s internal IT department and third-party IT managed service provider immediately locked down LaBovick’s servers. LaBovick promptly engaged cybersecurity legal counsel, as well as Redpoint Cybersecurity, LLC (“Redpoint”), a cybersecurity recovery and investigation firm, to further investigate the incident and coordinate efforts with our IT security team. Redpoint informed us that the incident began on approximately October 7, 2024, and ended on October 23, 2024, when LaBovick’s internal IT department and third-party IT managed service provider locked down LaBovick’s servers. According to Redpoint’s investigation, a well-known ransomware group was responsible for the attack. The cybercriminal was able to exfiltrate some of LaBovick’s data on the affected server. On November 12, 2024, LaBovick paid the cybercriminal’s ransom. Following receipt of the ransom payment, the cybercriminal confirmed that LaBovick’s data has been deleted and would not be leaked. We made efforts to make sure your data would not be used or disclosed in the future.

The breach was a result of a ransomware attack by a known group, affecting some client data. The incident impacted 2,825 people, and the breach occurred on October 7, 2024.
